Time flies when you are having fun!

Like a flash, today came and went! We were treated to another performance first thing this morning. A group of actors from the Persephone Theatre in Saskatoon performed a play for Kindergarten to grade 9. After we returned to our classroom and had our morning calendar meeting, we had a time for a quick introductory lesson to our new science unit on observing objects and materials. As a group, we brainstormed all of the different materials that objects are made out of. Then we went on a 'hunt' around the classroom to discover what items in our classroom were made out of rubber, metal, wood, plastic, glass, or cloth.

After snack it was off to the skating rink! Students participated in a school wide skate-a-thon and then ate a yummy hot lunch. It was a busy, fun time.

In the afternoon, Ms. Bergen came into our room to join us for our PWIM work. We read a non-fiction story about construction vehicle to help us with some vocabulary and build some background knowledge. Then, we did our shake out for our 3rd PWIM cycle. The students came up with some great words!

Afterwards, we read a fun fictional story about some lively construction vehicles! The class loved it.

Our class ended with guided reading. The students read a story called "The City". They were able to figure out some really tricky words like noise and businesses! We were impressed.

We ended the day with our free choice center time. Students enjoyed reading with the EA, dramatic play in the kitchen and with dolls, and experimenting with making a marble run. I'll leave you with a picture of our newest bulletin board that was created with the St. Patrick's day themed activity from Tuesday. Have a great weekend everyone!
