From Electricity to Chris P. Bacon

I'm back! I was away at a Kindergarten workshop on Monday, getting a lot of great ideas from other Kindergarten teachers. :) Collaboration is always a wonderful opportunity! Here's some of our students working together to figure out how electricity works:

Mr. Pratchler brought in this really interesting clear tube with wires inside of it. When you make a connection with two or more people hold it, it lights up. Whenever someone breaks the connection and you are no longer touching, it stops. It works on and off as you touch someone- such as by tapping their nose! The K's thought this was highly amusing!

On Monday, we had some exciting visitors in our classrooms: baby chicks! Why did I plan this on a day that I wouldn't be there? haha I do not have any photos to share, unfortunately. They did all draw pictures of their favorite part about the chick visit and they read Click Clack Peep, as well.

Here's an update on our beans:

Some are finally starting to sprout in our big bucket of dirt!

I was told that this is wheat that someone planted.

They're getting bigger! Some still have not grown, so I secretly put a new bean seed in those ones. Hopefully they will sprout soon!

We also got some new mail from Little Passports. This time the adventures of Sam and Sofia took us to England. We did a bit of extra researching by checking out some images of London and Stonehenge on internet.

They also worked on some alphabet recognition and math with Ms. Amendt before heading to the library. This afternoon we worked hard on our "This is me in May" self portraits. Before heading to gym we read a new story:
He's so cute! So, we also had to check out some Youtube videos of Chris P. Bacon! It was a great story to also generate conversation about people who have to use wheelchairs.

Thanks for stopping by our blog! I'll be back on Friday. :)
